how do i measure for replacement vinyl windows?

- Check with the vendor or the store you are buying from.
My friend who worked in millworks for years said that different manufacturers did it differently. Another friend also worked in the millworks dept. and when they went to buy their new doors and windows from an independent company 7 of the 10 were wrong! If they screw it up it's on them.
Use the supposed experts and let them get it right or take the rap.
Not that that helps while you wait for them to correct their mistakes.
- They are usually price by 'united inches'. To figure united inches, measure the length and width of the frame. Add these figures. Thus, an 24" x 36" frame = 60 united inches. See below link for a small example from a vinyl window seller.
- go to lowes, and ask the window specailist, they will know.
- measure your EXACT opening size. the window manufacturer will take off 1/2" each way. so a 30/50(three O/five O) window is really 35 1/2 by 59 1/2.
- Miz T good answer....Even the experts make mistakes in our case 3 times for one window....let them do it...
